I think one of the most challenging tasks I have been asked
in terms of my college DJ career, was to help curate a playlist for an art
gallery show. I’m definitely not one of the most incredible DJs out there but
if I say so myself, I can make a really good mix. But yikes, choosing songs for
a gallery show?! The show that I would be DJing for is SCAD Lacoste’s Open
Studio in the photo gallery, which includes a wide variety of subjects as it
was showing work from multiple photography classes. I came up with a mix of
ambient and head bopping music while making sure that nothing would be
distracting from the artwork.
A silly little photo of me and my photographs (I ended up selling all my pieces!)
Here are my favorite songs from this gallery playlist, which
I leave on shuffle to keep it fun.
(P.S., when in doubt, always play The Shins because you can never really go wrong with them).
