4 Things To Remember (In Order To Keep Your Sanity)

By MacKenzie Mercurio

Those of us who have experienced art school understand the extreme terror and anxiety induced when studio project due dates are near. Even though it’s just the beginning of the school year for most of us, it’s always good to remember a handful of things in order to keep your sanity. I made this list for myself a while ago when I was completely losing my mind over a series I was working on and had a terrifyingly small amount of time left until it was due. I hope it helps you too!

1. Self reflection is necessary, but don’t dwell

Going through art school I feel like I’ve already had 500000 mid-life crises and I just turned 21. It helps to know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, but sometimes not knowing is what makes the work special.
2. Breathe
Remember to stop whatever you’re doing and just breathe.
3. You are a part of something greater than yourself
It’s good for the soul to look up at the stars every now and then and bask in the beauty of the universe.
4. You can always find pizza, even in the darkest of times
I’ve travelled to quite a few places in my day, but no matter where I am, I can always find pizza. Pizza delivery exists, what more could you ask for?
