By Whitney Cole
This past week was spent on another trip with my family and close friends, except this time, I would actually consider it a vacation. Being able to unwind with the tide right outside the living room doors was exactly what I believe my little soul had been craving. The week was filled with shark teeth, sea shells, rambunctious puppies, and a bit of artistic expression. The “kids” (now all over 18) still played games, goofed off, and ran around, leaving trails of sand in their wake. Plans were made but rarely followed through, but it was never something that needed worrying.

Gifts and a thrift shop extravaganza left me with quite a few extra things on the return trip, a couch included. As I return to my still-not-quite-finished apartment, I bring that desire for home and calm with me. I fill the nooks and crannies with trinkets brought from the oceanside escape, and I feel a little closer to settled.
