As a writer of blogs, I am tremendously invested in reading
other people’s blogs and the things they want to say or share. It is
such a great inspiration to see, hear or read what others are thinking about
and how they may react. Similar to the lesson of learning from watching others,
I find that reading up on fellow bloggers is a way for me to understand more
about my life and the journey in which I am on.
Recently, I read one blog post in particular, by Nici
Holt Cline on the blog Dig This Chick, that really stuck with me, turning my gears and causing me to pause, stop and think. Primarily the post dealt with
the questions of what we believe in. Nici told a story of how her daughter
inquired about what her mother believed in and therefore, what she should
believe in. This got me thinking about what I truly believe in, what theories,
ideas or philosophies I rely on, or where I go when there’s no
where else to turn?
My answer, Mother
Nature.
Right here, right now, I am in a place and time of my
life where the biggest thing I believe in is Mother Nature, her Earth and all of
the beauties it creates. Everything from the sky, to the sea, and all the tiny
parcels in between. The humans, animals, and insects with all the love and joy
that can be shared between them.
I find this belief, trust, or faith every day when I look
around me. It’s always been present, but I think it has reappeared
through my drives to and from the city, just completely in awe of the sky
above me. Mother Nature is a magnificent being and her beauty is all around, we
just have to look for it. Here are some places around the world where she has just completely
blown me away.
1. Juneau, Alaska
A bike ride to glacial lake with floating icebergs.
2. Boboli Gardens
in Florence, Italy
Looking over the city and the mountains beyond.
3. Scotts Head,
Dominica
A hike overlooking the little strip of land connecting to the main island.
4. Skagway, Alaska
A hike through the woods to a little mountain top.
5. Siena, Italy
A walk back through the city, at just the right time.
6. Mornes Trois
Pitons, Dominica
A hike to the Fountain of Youth.
7. Carrara, Italy
A hike to the top of the White Marble Mountain.
To continue your inspiration, make sure to check out a few of my favorite blogs: Dig This Chick, Little Green Things, and Free People. Keep on keeping on!
